Dian Harrison is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Planned Parenthood Golden Gate (PPGG), one of the largest Planned Parenthood affiliates in the US. Harrison leads the organization and oversees all operations including nine health centers, a staff of nearly 300, and an annual budget of $18 million. An award-winning leader, Harrison was the 1996 Woman of the Year by the National Women's Political Caucus. She also received the 1996 Women of Color Inspiration Award from the National Women's Political Caucus, and was presented the 1997 Outstanding Leadership and Service Award by the Black Women for Political Action.
Harrison has more than 28 years of progressive experience in the nonprofit sector, having served in leadership positions with high-profile organizations such as the United Way and the Urban League, and she was the first woman to serve as Vice President of University Relations for Fisk University, one of the 114 historically black colleges and universities in Nashville, TN. She has also served on the boards of organizations including the National Abortion Federation, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the Red Rock Foundation. She has been a member-at-large for the National Executive Directors Council (NEDC), and has served as a member of the Reinvention Group, the Cultural Diversity Steering Committee, the American Public Health Association, the Association of Black Social Workers, the National Forum of Black Public Administrators, and the Status on the Commission for Women, San Francisco.
Harrison received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Masters Degree in Social Work Planning and Administration from Western Michigan University.
